TiNA’S STORY

Tina was my reflexology client for seven years. She was in remission from kidney cancer, and believed that reflexology helped her stay well.

During lockdown I was unable to treat her and her cancer returned. In March 2023 Tina contacted me to tell me she had been given less than a year to live.

She asked if I would start treating her again, and walk alongside her during the last months of her life…

“We are all so ill prepared to die.”

— Tina, May 2023

In December 2023 Tina went into the hospice and I visited her most days. We wrote cards for her son to open after she’d died. I read stories that reminded her of her childhood.

Tina took her last three breaths with me by her side, and when I went to see her in the chapel of rest a couple of weeks later, she looked the most peaceful and happy I’d ever seen her. A smile played across her lips, as if she knew the answer to a secret, and was amused that I didn’t, yet…

I saw Tina regularly from May 2023 until her death in January 2024. As well as giving her reflexology, we talked about the reality of dying, and helped her prepare she shared stories from her life. Decisions she’d regretted. Losses that had never healed. We turned out all her crafting materials and finished making a dream catcher she had started years ago, decorating it with fairy lights and hanging it on the wall of her bedroom.

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
